PEOPLE & PLANET
Our Commitment
CHINGOMA FARM: A SANCTUARY FOR WILDLIFE
Chingoma Farm, the heart of Dr. Trouble, is also a registered Wildlife Conservancy. With natural habitats under pressure from expanding human activity, the farm has become a haven for wildlife. We actively rescue animals — especially zebra and ostriches — that stray into nearby farming areas. Many are rehabilitated here and later relocated to reserves across Zimbabwe, helping restore ecosystems and protect vulnerable species.
OUR COMMUNITY
Tucked in the forested foothills of the Zambezi Valley, our state-of-the-art factory runs entirely off-grid, powered by the sun. More than just a production site, it’s a sanctuary — and a vital source of employment for local communities. Our water is drawn from deep underground, and our only neighbour is the African bush, where impala graze quietly along the fence line. The air is crystal clear, untouched, kilometres from any human development. An island in a sea of green.
LEMONS WITH A PURPOSE
In the rural African villages surrounding us, almost every home has a lemon tree. Traditionally, lemons were used only for simple remedies like lemon tea — and many went to waste. We saw an opportunity. Today, these beautiful wild lemons are harvested and brought to our factory, turning overlooked fruit into income and empowering communities along the way.

Our Initiatives

GROWING LITTLE PEPPERS
In one of the world’s most underprivileged regions — where opportunity is scarce but the hunger to learn is immense — we launched the Little Peppers Project to make a lasting difference. Today, the program pays school fees and provides essential stationery for nearly 150 children who might otherwise be left behind. We believe education is the foundation for lasting change, and every child helped through this project is a step toward a stronger, more empowered community.

CHILLI MAMAS: CHILLI BRICK PROJECT
At the Chilli Mamas Project, Dr. Trouble fosters community-driven empowerment through agricultural upliftment. We support local farmers by providing essential seed inputs and oering a guaranteed purchase price for their chilli crops. Some product is used to make artisanal hot sauce, which is sold within the local community. This initiative not only enhances local livelihoods but also celebrates and sustains traditional craftsmanship.
ELEPHANT CHILLI BRICK PROJECT
Dr Trouble has teamed up with Elephants for Africa, a leading conservation charity focused on protecting elephants and promoting peaceful human-wildlife coexistence in Northern Botswana. Together, they’re supporting the creation and rollout of chilli-dung burners — sustainable, low-tech devices that use dried chillies, elephant dung, and recycled oil to produce a smoke barrier that deters elephants from raiding crops. The initiative helps protect rural farms, reduces conflict, and supports livelihoods, all while staying true to Dr Trouble’s ethos of ethical sourcing and grassroots empowerment.
